These are a few of my {favorite} things

This was a challenge for the design team over at Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. We had to do a layout about ourselves...something that we often forget to do. There were a lot of options for this, but I decided to go the route of making a page about a few of my favorite things. It was fun to do, and it forced me to take a few moments to reflect and be thankful for the things that the Lord has given for me to enjoy. Here's my list, which is obviously not in any particular order :)

• My hope found in Christ (okay, this would top the list anyway)
• Chocolate
• Holidays (used the Christmas tree from Christmas Cheer on this square)
  
• The love among my family
• Faithful friends
• The beauty of Creation
• Good sleep
• Comfort of home (used the home from Joys of the Season here)

The title is from Plantin Schoolbook; the 'few' is from Opposites Attract. The brackets around 'favorite' are from Printing Press and the heart is from Graphically Speaking.
The patterned paper is from Making Memories, as are the stamps (Ransom) and the cardboard flowers. I used 'Thickers' for the word 'favorite' and for the brackets around the heart.

Hello From the North Pole

Here's the last Christmas card. The snowman is from Christmas Cheer and the blue background paper is from the DCWV Christmas 2007 stack. I also layered the bottom part with vellum that I hand-embossed with snowflakes. The design came from the Sketch Saturday blog.

Naughty or Nice?

Santa Claus is making his list and checking it twice for this card! This whimsical St. Nick is from Christmas Cheer. His suit is embossed with the Cuttlebug (Divine Swirl) and then stickled over the swirls. The paper is from the DCWV Christmas 2007 stack.

All hearts come home for Christmas

This layout features family pictures taken back in 2001. I cut the title from Mickey Font at 1" and 1 1/4". The reindeer and sleigh were cut from Christmas Cheer, and the Santa and his bag is cut from Joys of the Season. I decorated the sleigh with stickles and wrapped two of the pictures with ribbon.

Not a Creature Was Stirring

Journaling says, "It is a Staley family tradition to see who can "fall asleep" the fastest on December 24th. Ever since I can remember, as our Christmas Eve festivities were nearing an end, my sisters and I would race to our rooms, put on pajamas, brush our teeth, and hop into bed. We knew it wouldn't be long before Mom and Dad came to check to see if we were sleeping. As soon as our heads hit our pillows, my sisters and I would have a snoring contest, trying to convince our parents that we were truly asleep so that Santa could come! Dad would always praise the loudest snorer as being the "goodest" girl and the one most ready for Santa's visit, and he would tickle us to try to wake us from our "slumber." We sisters grew older and are no longer at the Staley household for most Christmases, but our children will most definitely be subject to the same silly traditions we enjoyed growing up."

The fireplace and holly border are from Joys of the Season, and the stockings are from Christmas Cheer. The title is from Storybook and is cut at 1 1/4 inches.

jolly

I am wearing long sleeves today, a sure sign of the changing seasons, and I find myself thinking of the holidays. I'm digging out pictures from previous Christmases and my scrapbooks are getting thicker with completed pages!
I used a really simple design for this series of pictures. (Isn't my niece a cutie?) I used the ribbon to emphasize the straight line of the design, and accented it with a buckle from Fabulous Finds. The Santa, along with his list, is from Christmas Cheer, and the 'jolly' is cut from the upright feature of Opposites Attract. I used Star Dust stickles on the white of Santa's hat and on 'jolly.'

Baby it's COLD outside

After a week of high temperatures, I decided to scrap some snowy pictures, hoping it would make me feel a little cooler to be thinking *cold* thoughts and cutting snowflakes! Pictures are of my niece, Abby, at about 16 months, playing in the snow. Though the design is simple, I used a lot of stuff on it...are you ready? 'Cold' is from Storybook--and though it's hard to tell in the pictures, the paper is a shimmery metallic white to mimic fresh snow; the rest of the title is Alphalicious. The snowflakes are from Graphically Speaking, Christmas Cheer, and Joys of the Season--and they are stickled. The squares amidst the pictures are shiny silver and vellum paper embossed with the Cuttlebug, and then layered with snowflakes (again from the shimmery paper). I finished it off with some ribbon that says *Let it Snow*
